Moving…the blog

5 03 2007

When I started this blog a few months ago I had no idea what I was doing or what would come of it.  When I created my blog account with wordpress, I thought cw730 would be my user id and not part of my blog address.  That is how I ended up with cw730.wordpress.com.

Amazingly enough this little blog has caught on quite quickly and is starting to get linked.   The title “All Ahead Full” came after I started writing and wanted something a little better suited & more exciting than “A Sub’s Wife Adventures”.  Not to mention the fact when I did a google search of “sub wife”, I found out in most web sites “sub” does not refer to “submariner wives”, but something all together different.  I had to change the name!   Now that I have changed the name, I think it might be confusing for people to remember two different names:

“All Ahead Full” and the actual web address cw730.wordpress.com

So the marketer in me has started the painstaking task of moving my blog to a new address so everything ties together.

The site may experience some technical difficulties while this process is underway.

Thank you and back to the regular scheduled programming….

5 Most Dangerous Things…

5 03 2007

…You’ll hear in the U.S. Navy

A Seaman saying, “I learned this in Boot Camp…”

A Petty Officer saying, “Trust me, Sir…”

A Lieutenant JG saying, “Based on my experience…”

A Lieutenant saying, “I was just thinking…”

A Chief chuckling, “Watch this sh*t…”

Classic!

I just couldn’t resist this joke I found over at SillyLady’s ramblings

MilBlog Search

3 03 2007

Those of you who visit milblogging.com know that JP will be deploying soon.  He recently posted a request for content, as he will need help with fresh milblog stories while he is deployed.

I would like to interview fellow milbloggers and have their stories featured on milblogging.com.  For my first installment I’d like to interview a milspouse that is stationed overseas and a submarine milblogger (preferably a wife).  So, if you have a milblog that you would like featured, please leave me a comment or email me at wendy at submarinewife dot com.

Thanks!

I’m in trouble…again

2 03 2007

Hello,

My mom received this email from one of her friends via email.

28.jpg

She told me if I ever did anything like this I would be in the dog house and would probably have to move out since I wasn’t following the rules.  (I also heard her say that to my 19yr. old brother and I know she means it.)

We’ll it’s been about two weeks and I’ve been really good.  But, the other day I was ready to come inside so I barked for my mom.  She usually comes right away, but she must have been working on her computer.  I just couldn’t wait, I was maybe a little lonely and ok, a lot bored.  I didn’t mean to eat the cushion…..it’s all a blur now.

Somehow I got myself around tiki torch and even dragged the chair..gosh, I’m strong.  (I have to be on tie-out because the far back corner of yard does not have fence, and I like to visit the neighbors and his cows.)

I guess Im in time out for awhile.  Lucky for me I’m so darn cute, mom says I still get to stay.

Until next time,

Katie

Oldest Sailor in the Navy to Retire

Navy’s Oldest Sailor Set to Retire

http://www.news.navy.mil/management/videodb/player/video.aspx?id=8815

Despite my husband thinking HE is the oldest sailor in the Navy, I guess here’s proof he isn’t.  One of my favorite stories he told me once (well, ok probably a 100 times) while on patrol when dealing with young JO’s goes something like this:

Young JO:  Sr. Chief, we should be doing “this like this“!!

Sr. Chief McGrumble:  (with a look of annoyance) “What were you doing in 1987?”

Young JO:  (…..after a long pause)  ”…..um, I was in 2nd grade, Sr. Chief”

Sr. Chief McGrumble:  ”We’ll, I’ve been doing this since 1987, so I think I know what I am doing!”

(my paraphrasing)  I’m sure a few *!@! were thrown in for effect.

Back to business:

The Navy’s oldest sailor is set to retire.

Congrats MUCM Douglas Forziati, Thank You for your service!

International Very Good Looking, Damn Smart Woman’s Day

28 02 2007

I borrowed this post from Cristin (who is VGLDS) over at redlegwife.blogspot.com.  Where do people make up this stuff?  Too funny!  I too thought I would share it with the other VGLDS women I know!

Very Good Looking, Damn Smart Woman!
Today is International Very Good Looking, Damn Smart Woman’s Day, so please send this message to someone you think fits this description. Please do not send it back to me as I have already received it from a Very Good Looking, Damn Smart Woman! And remember this motto to live by: Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, wine in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming “WOO HOO what a ride!” Have a wonderful day!

Home Sweet Home

27 02 2007

After two days on the road, I finally made it home around 8pm on Sunday night.  These past two days have spent getting caught up on sleep, work and email.  On Monday, I did surprise C. at school early.  We played hooky and fled school for lunch together and a movie.  We saw Bridge to Terabithia, which in my opinion is more for a 12 -13 year old and was a little heavy for a 10 yr. old.  (Im sure some parents might disagree.)  Our little one on one time was a ton of fun, I wonder if he will tell his kids one day about the time he and his mom took the afternoon off from work and school and went to lunch and movie, just the two of them. :)   This is the kind of memory I have of my grandparents, inviting me along on a day adventure into town for something as simple as grocery shopping.  But, it truely is one of my fondess memories.
